Our Safaris .... A comfortable 4x4 vehicle, which can carry up to seven passengers, is used to take you along established mountain tracks which were initially used by the drovers and whisky smugglers to take their products to the southern markets. This will take you into areas of mountains, lochs and rivers which is normally beyond the reach or the average visitor. The excitement of turning a corner to see the 'Monarch of the Glen' a few meters away , or a golden eagle hunting for its next meal. You may see in their natural habitat red and roe deer, mountain hares, red squirrels, golden eagles, red and black grouse, perhaps ptarmigan and many more smaller species. Many people imagine that only heather grows on the mountains but you will have the opportunity to see some of the other vegetation which helps to make the area so interesting. You will learn about the history, folklore and management of the area. The pace is normally leisurely and you can stop as frequently as you wish to photograph the landscapes and wildlife, or just to inhale the pure air which in late summer is tinged with the scent of the heather. Binoculars are available in the vehicle. Tours generally last between three and four hours. However, special requests can be catered for. Our most popular tours are :- (a) the 'Blue Riband' which is of four hours duration. This gets its name from a view of the River Gairn near its source, and takes you into an area of mountains, rivers and lochs miles from human habitation. This is priced at £35.00 per person; Discounts are available for children. (b) the 'Silver Lining'. This tour will take you to a high viewpoint where you will be surrounded by mountains. It lasts about three hours and costs £30.00 per person. Discounts are available for children.
